A Comparison of Two Pictures

Ballet is the hardest dance in the world. We discriminate Ballet from two kinds nowadays. One is Romantic Ballet and other is Classical Ballet. There are some differences between Romantic Ballet and Classical Ballet.

One difference is dancer’s performing quality. For example, Romantic Ballet has a very light floating quality. The dancer seem like a flying or floating spirit on the stage. The movements are always soft, light or slower. But Classical Ballet usually has a strong and powerful quality. The dancer always has a clean body line. The movement requested precise and energetic. They always show a difficult technique, like pirouette, grande jeté, and grande battement.

The second area of different is costume. We called ballet dress TuTu. In Romantic Ballet, the ballerina wears a long TuTu. We called it Romantic TuTu. The Romantic TuTu usually is white, so Romantic Ballet called White Ballet. In Classical Ballet, the ballerina wears a short TuTu. It called Classical TuTu. The Classical TuTu always resplendent and pretty. You may ask why the TuTu becomes shorter in Classical Ballet. That is corresponding the first difference; the dancer needs to show a clean body line.

Although there are differences between Romantic Ballet and Classical Ballet. They both show elegantly and need a standard on performance.
